Engagement Model

How advisory engagements are structured.

Every engagement is grounded in clarity of scope, independence of perspective and governance that stands up to board and system scrutiny.

Fixed-scope engagements

Each brief is agreed in writing, with defined deliverables, timeframes and senior director point of accountability. Scope changes are documented and agreed before further work is undertaken.

Retained advisory

Where a Chief Executive or senior director team benefits from continuity of independent counsel, retained arrangements are offered on a monthly cadence with clear access, review and exit terms.

Clear conflict governance

All engagements are subject to written conflict-of-interest declaration and management, aligned to NHS standards. Work is declined where a material conflict cannot be adequately mitigated.

Outside substantive NHS remit

This advisory practice operates entirely outside any substantive NHS employment. All engagements are conducted independently and in accordance with prevailing secondary-employment guidance.

How a typical engagement proceeds.

  1. 01

    Initial confidential discussion

A short, without-obligation conversation to understand context, decision horizon and where independent perspective may be of value.

  2. 02

    Written scoping paper

A concise engagement proposal setting out objectives, method, deliverables, timeframe and commercial terms.

  3. 03

    Conflict declaration & agreement

Formal conflict-of-interest management and engagement letter executed before work commences.

  4. 04

    Delivery

Focused senior advisory to the defined scope, with agreed points of board or senior leadership interface.

  5. 05

    Close-out or continuation

Formal close-out with documented outputs, or transition into a retained advisory arrangement where appropriate.
